The Story:

Victorious in battle we are, the soldiers played drums and blew trumpets, singing aloud in one accord, “victory! victory, at last, we stand”, as the song continues, they salute their captain. “All hail the captain!”. He felt so honored that he rejoices with them, let us merry and be happy for we have conquered our enemies! Let there be food and wine for the soldiers and servants for this time we fought and conquered. Fetch the good servant to merry with me for I am glad we made it through. Sir, Yes, Sir!

Moments later report came to him: Sir, the good servant is seriously ill. What! He exclaimed. How could this be? I fought in battle side by side with the soldiers moved across mountains and sea, slew dragons and beast and overcame; Now its time that I should merry and the servant with the good care is ill. What is the state, is there a remedy for this illness, these are the things I need to know, he shouted! Fetch the religious ally. Sir! Yes, Sir, the soldier saluted and left for his call.

They dressed up in white garment having a long beard looked like they are in their early 90’s, there are six of them in number, they wore a long cap that’s about 2 inches tall, and had staffs in their hand like priest as they approach the captain, one of them had a scarf wrapped around his neck, it fell through to his belly, he seems to be their leader: We come in the name of the Lord. He shouted! We received your message and we have good news. We have heard about a man who makes the blind see and the lame walk, He heals the sick and set the captives free. The Captain in astonishment speaks: Well then send for him! I’m glad to have Him heal my servant. Their leader made a gesture and three from their group approaches the gate… Common in and merry with us for we have conquered our enemies.

We entered Capernaum in the evening, together we send a warning message for the morrow for we believe that the morrow is scared that we come soon. “Better watch out for we come in the name of God! We shouted aloud. We looked and saw some religious people approaching, we can tell by the way they are dressed as so they claimed. “Here they come again Peter said. let’s hear what the news is this time”.

The captain sends a message: one of the three religious allies says: “I am glad to have you come and heal my servant” without a word, we followed them.

Meanwhile; in the captain’s camp: still in the mood of merriment he inquires, should He be coming to the camp, I’m not worthy to be in his presence either. My friends, Go ahead and tell him…

We are a few minutes away from the camp, I prayed in the Holy Ghost to perfect His work before we get there.

This might be the captain’s ally approaching Thomas said. We’re the captain’s friend and he sends a message: Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof. Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed. For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.

I marveled when I heard this saying, turned back to check on the guys, Peter was captivated by the captain’s message, Thomas; already lost in oblivion, same as John, James, and Bartholomew; Oh Judas Iscariot had already jumped toward the captain’s friends, it felt like I was being robbed; But filled with the Holy Ghost I said to them that followed, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And Immediately the guys got back to their senses, and Judas returned. I turned and said to the captain’s friends: Go home. Your servant will be healed the way you believed he would.

The Writers Word:
As we move through the terrain of life preaching the good news to the poor, healing the broken-hearted, delivering the captives, recovering the sight of the blind (physically or spiritually), helping God’s people come to a place of maturity in Christ and set at liberty them that are bruised, we realize that the people of the world crave for authority especially over the body of Jesus Christ in order to destroy God’s plan of abundant life.

The Bible records in John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.

Also in John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Enlightenment on the conversation that ensued between Jesus and the Centurion:
Though he seems to approach Jesus from a good perspective yet take note of his words.

The first word from the Gospel of Luke:

Luke 7:4–5 says: And when they came to Jesus, they pleaded with him earnestly, saying, “He is worthy to have you do this for him, for he loves our nation, and he is the one who built us our synagogue.”

Jesus could have been happy at this message, open His heart in anticipation to meet the centurion, a generous man as they described, but a few moments later he sent the second word.

Luke 7:6 says: And Jesus went with them. When he was not far from the house, the centurion sent friends, saying to him, “Lord, do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof.

Note the hurtful word and hope that Jesus pities him “do not trouble yourself, for I am not worthy to have you come under my roof” If Jesus had opened His heart to the first word, the second word would have hurt Him and probably triggered Him to act humanly:

  1. Seek for vengeance in anger; for example: (why do you think I’m troubled, you idiot). LOL
  2. Insist to go see the centurion against his will out of pity.

These outcomes are of the devil and would place Jesus under the centurion’s authority.

Now the centurion thought he had had Jesus with the first two words he sent, so he continued:

Luke 7:7 says:Therefore I did not presume to come to you. But say the word, and let my servant be healed.

This word was supposed to make Jesus impress him, this would, in turn, make Jesus one of his servants as he continues in verse 8 with some juicy words that anyone would fall for.

Luke 7:8 says: For I too am a man set under authority, with soldiers under me: and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”

Now if Jesus had opened His heart (fallen) to this nonsense God forbid, the Christian faith might not have been today. But God was just amazed at his words.

Matthew 8:10 (ERV) says: When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. He said to those who were with him, “The truth is, this man has more faith than anyone I have found, even in Israel.

I laughed in the Holy Ghost when I read this verse. It translated to this: You tried yea, but not enough!

Jesus’s response helped many of them that followed “that had opened their heart (fallen) to the nonsense” come back to the reality of truth (be whole again). He set the captives free.

As we go through life, we engage in different kinds of conversation with family, friends, and colleagues, let us be vigilant and wise through Jesus Christ and give a good response as Jesus Christ thought us to. I believe that when we do this we will be free from the captivity of the devil.

Perhaps you’ve opened your heart to someone or something out of goodwill and has been hurt in return, as Jesus did to the centurion, let us also let go and let God, let us not seek vengeance for if we do, we’re only working under their authority.

The Bible says in Deuteronomy 32:35 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompense; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.

God has the final say so let us continue with what God has called each and every one of us to do, and not to do what is meant for God. Let us come back to the reality of truth in Jesus Christ.

When we make a mistake, let us learn from it, apologize and move on, let’s not see it as an opportunity to sin.

Let us be careful of who we follow, what we listen to and watch, in conclusion, let us be careful of who and what we allow into our heart because out of it are the issues of life: Let us ask ourselves: Does the things I allow into my heart takes me closer to God or does it pull me away from God.

If you have not surrendered to Jesus Christ yet let us do so for He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins.

1 John 1:9 says If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

I believe there shall be rejoicing in heaven when we surrender to Jesus Christ and in turn, put a smile on His face.

Acts 4:12 says Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

Song/Declaration of Salvation:

Do you know I believe in Jesus
Do you know life is so great
On the third day
my Jesus rose from dead
and I have never seen a man
who rose from dead like Jesus Christ

I had a debt I could not pay
Jesus paid the debt He did not owe
I needed someone
To wash my sins away
Jesus washed away my sins
And now I sing a brand new song
And now I sing a brand new song

I believe in the Son
I believe in the risen One
I believe I overcome
By the power of His blood

Because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because He lives
Every fear is gone
I know He holds my life my future in His hands

Amen, Amen
I’m alive, I’m alive
Because He lives
Amen, Amen
Let my song join the one that never ends
Because He lives
Because He lives

If you sang the song or declared the words we believe you’re born again to the family of Jesus Christ.

May the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Ghost rest and abide with us now till Jesus comes. Amen.
